The Founder:

Emil K. Bauer (1844–1912)

Established in 1872 by Viennese chemist and perfumer Emil K. Bauer, the house began in the heart of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Emil was a discreet artisan known for crafting bespoke perfumes for the upper class, aristocrats, and wealthy merchants traveling between Vienna, Budapest, and Trieste. His small atelier, tucked away on a cobblestone street near the city center, blended local botanicals, rare resins, and exotic materials brought by traders along the imperial routes.

The house was forgotten for over a century until its rediscovery in a private archive. In 2023, a passionate perfume enthusiast revived the legacy, reimagining Bauer’s vision with a modern twist—using both traditional techniques and newly available, handmade ingredients such as cannabis, Carolina Reaper, and rare ouds from Cambodia and Thailand.

Today, the house crafts unique, hand-painted fragrances that embody sophistication and depth, inspired by the timeless art of scent.
